Green Bay Police attempts to shift the fight against crime

GREEN BAY Green Bay Police switched to Police the district approach early today in an effort to reduce crime and build stronger relationships with the population.

The officer will be assigned to one of four districts of the far West, to the side of the far east of the city.

Police have used the model 10-zone, which is often divided into more parts, Police Captain Joe Deuster said. That means that one day an officer could respond to a call near the city centre and then end up patrolling the eastern edge of the next day.

The system is intended to allow Police District officers for routine patrol a section of the city to better identify crime trends and the Vandals, he said.

“The idea is so that officers planted in an environment so that they have ownership of the area,” said Deuster, which is set to head A district, which includes the far west side.
